This is an incredible piece of history in Raleigh. The quiet, beautiful home and grounds is a great piece of living history. You can rent the very small chapel for weddings. You can tour the home and grounds. A great place for residents and visitors to check out!

When we visited the house, we were very impressed with the preservation of the site, as well as those places brought to the site. The kids enjoyed learning about what children did back then, and keep wanting to go back to visit and play.

Visitors learn a lot at Mordecai house and, when visiting at certain times, can witness re-enactments of how life was during times of slavery. Antique buffs will love it, as the furniture is almost all period pieces. At Halloween, one can learn about the ghosts said to haunt the house; its a lot of fun. Its a lovely place to take a picnic and spend the day.
